Ticket2Me secures funding for expansion overseas

Local blockchain-based start-up company Ticket2Me is setting its sight overseas after securing funding from a Singapore-based investor.

Philippine start-up company Ticket2Me is on the verge of expanding overseas after securing funding from Singapore-based Citystate Group Pte. Ltd.

In a statement released by the company last week, Ticket2Me announced that it is the recipient of $350,000 as seed money for its plans to service more countries in Asia through its blockchain-based ticketing platform.

Among the markets the company plans to break into are Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.

“We are absolutely convinced that event organizers and ticket buyers in the region are both hungry and ready for event ticketing innovation, ” Ticket2Me founder and CEO Darwin Mariano said in the statement.

Also in the company’s pipeline is local expansion particularly targeting major cities outside Metro Manila.

Ticket2Me is said to be Asia’s first online marketplace that enables blockchain-based transactions.  It started operations in 2018 and currently has over 11,000 payment outlets throughout the Philippines.

Citystate Group, meanwhile, is a diversified group of companies with operations in travel, general insurance underwriting and broking, food processing and distribution, preschool education and enrichment programs, music education and retailing services, restaurants, property management, and events management. It operates in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, and India.
